For a refreshing change in 2017, stay hydrated

Christmas time round Buxton way is a pretty traditional affair. Family and friends, tinsel and trees. Oh, and a bucket load of food and drink. Yes, it’s fair to say that like most of Britain, we indulge in more than our share of eating, drinking and being merry. And we wouldn’t have it any other way. Well, it is Christmas after all.

We like to observe other typically British traditions around this time of year, too. So once the festivities are done and dusted, the cheese, mince pies (and your favourite tipple) are well and truly gone, it’s resolution time. Luckily we have just the thing for anyone who wants to become healthier, happier and more up for it. Buxton Natural Mineral Water, of course.

Water, a great start to the year

We like to think that it’s our pure, pristine mineral water that gives us that little bit of extra sparkle. After all, Buxton Natural Mineral Water fell as rain on our beautiful Peak District hills and valleys, before being filtered through a mile of Derbyshire limestone, then naturally pumped up some 5,000 years later. This makes our water a great place to start any resolution to stay hydrated.

How to stay hydrated: our handy tips

1. Mark your water bottle with time goals

Such a simple idea, this. All you do is write your timed drinking goals on a bottle of water (a 75cl litre bottle of Buxton is perfect for the first part of the day). Then try to keep to your goal throughout the day. That way you can actually see when you need to play catch up or if you’re smashing your target out of the park.

2. Turn it into a game

Making a game out of anything is a great way to motivate yourself, and staying hydrated is no exception. So set incentives to reach your milestones, and when you reach your weekly drinking goal, treat yourself. On the other hand, if you forget to drink enough water, give yourself a wrap on the knuckles (a run round the block is probably healthier, mind you).

3. Set your timer

These days, we’re surrounded by electronic gizmos and gadgetry to remind us to do something. So whether it’s a smartphone, a smart watch, your laptop or tablet, harness the power of tech to keep your water drinking on track. Simply set a timer or alarm at regular intervals, and you’ll be prompted to drink your fill every time it goes off. Genius! These are just a few of the ways you can help yourself drink more of the clear stuff.

There are loads of others of course. You could buy yourself a supercool water glass or use a crazy straw. Whatever works for you. Because, when you make that change for the better by drinking more water (and stick to it), you could discover a more naturally pumped up version of yourself.
