Buxton Water “Buxton Memory Lane” prize draw

  1. The promotion is only open to those who have registered/been accept to run in the London Marathon 2017. Proof of registration will be required upon being selected to participate in the ‘Buxton Memory Lane’.
  2. Following entry into the draw, entrants will be will not be contacted again by the Promoter, or anyone associated with Nestlé Waters, unless they go on to be selected to participate in the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’. 
  3. Runners of the London Marathon 2017 can enter the draw via the Buxton Water website entry form from 03.04.2017. Registration will close at 23:59 on 04.04.2017, or when 150 valid registrations have been received, whichever is soonest.    
  4. A total of 35 runners will be drawn at random by an independent third party on 07.04.2017. These 35 runners will be made up of five (5) runners from each of the following estimated finish time categories:
  • 5 runners in the 3 - 3.5 hrs category
  • 5 runners in the 3 5 – 4 hrs category
  • 5 runners in the 4 - 4.5 hrs category
  • 5 runners in the 4.5 – 5 hrs category
  • 5 runners in the 5 - 5.5 hrs category
  • 5 runners in the 5.5 – 6 hrs category
  • 5 runners in the 6 - 6.5 hrs category
  1. The 35 runners will be notified via email by no later than 10.04.2017.
  2. The 35 runners drawn will participate in the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’ at the 2017 London Marathon course. This is an 80-metre lane on the side of the main London Marathon course located at Mile 12 on Tooley Street at the junction of Fair Street, just after the Tooley St Water Station.
  3. The 35 selected runners will be contacted via email and asked to nominate the person (Supporting Runner) who will be running with them in the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’. Runners must respond via email by 17.04.2017 at the latest, confirming acceptance of the place and the details of their Supporting Runner. Any runner who has not confirmed by the stated date will forfeit the right to participate in the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’, and their place will be offered to a reserve runner drawn at the same time as the originals.
  4. Only one Supporting Runner place will be allocated for each of the 35 selected runners.  In the event of a selected runner having a valid reason/wish to be accompanied by more than one Supporting Runner, they may make a special request to the Promoter by no later than midday on 19.04.2017.  Access for any additional Supporting Runners will be at the sole discretion of the Promoter. The Supporting Runners will be asked to fill out a (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire) form and return it to the organiser by no later than 6pm on 19.04.17. This will be to assess the state of health of the participants and allow the Promoter to provide necessary support to participants. The Promoter retains the right to refuse participation on the basis that a Supporting runner’s medical state may be a concern to the safety of the Supporting runner during the run on the Buxton Water Lane.
  5. By entering the Promotion, the winners acknowledge that they may be required to participate in publicity relating to the promotion without payment or further consent. Such publicity may include, without limitation, the entrants name and/or, statements made by the entrants concerning the Promotion and/or prizes and photographs/video taken/created as part of the Promotion. Such video recordings may be posted on Twitter via @Buxtonwater, the Buxton Water website and the BuxtonWater You Tube account.
  6.  Age restrictions will apply for Supporting Runners.  Supporting Runners must be 5 years old and over.
  7. The original Selected Runner must be the parent or legal guardian of any Supporting Runners aged under 18 years old and the minor must remain with their parent/legal guardian throughout the entire duration of their time in the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’.  The Selected Runner must ensure that a competent, nominated adult will be available to take charge of the minor prior to and at the end of the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’.
  8. All Supporting Runners will be required to wear a Buxton branded t-shirt and baseball cap in the lane, which will be provided by the organisers.
  9. The Supporting Runner will be contacted by Buxton Water’s Activation agency, , to confirm their participation and to communicate instructions and information for the day. In the event of the Supporting Runner being under 18 years old, CAA will discuss arrangements with their parent/legal guardian.
  10. All runners selected to participate in the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’ will be required to confirm via email that they have read and accepted these terms and conditions, are over 18 yrs old, or the parent or legal guardian of any accompanying minor(s). 
  11. After the race has begun, the organisers will endeavour to monitor the progress of the Selected Runner using the London Marathon mobile application tracking technology, but as only one runner can be monitored at any given time, it is also the of the Supporting Runner to monitor their Selected Runner via the mobile application technology. The last beacon for this is at Mile 9. Once the Runner has passed this point, the Supporting Runner and supporters will be escorted from The Bridge Lounge Pub (see Clause 22) to the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’ in time for the arrival of their Selected Runner.
  12. It is the responsibility of the Supporting Runner or their parent/guardian to ensure they arrive at the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’ at least 10 minutes before the Selected Runner is anticipated to reach the designated rendezvous point (see Clause 16 for how monitoring of Selected Runners is to be conducted).  The Supporting runner will arriving at the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’ from the Bridge Lounge Pub.
  13. It is the responsibility of supporters to ensure that they are positioned by the lane in order to see their Runner on the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’. Whilst the organisers will provide assistance, they cannot accept responsibility for late arrivals of supporters, or for supporters who miss their Selected Runner.
  14.  It is the responsibility of the Selected Runner to ensure they stop at the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’. The Organisers will give the Selected Runner all relevant information as to the location of the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’ prior to 23.04.2017. In addition, Stewards will be standing at the entrance to the Lane, waiting for the arrival of the Selected Runners.
  15. Supporters must follow instructions from the organisers and the London Marathon stewarding staff at all times. Failure to comply may result in them being removed from the race route.
  16. On completion of the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’, the Supporting Runner must exit the lane immediately and follow instructions from the London Marathon Stewards.
  17.  Selected Runners participating in the Buxton ‘Memory Lane’ are permitted to invite their Supporting Runner and a small group personal supporters (up to a maximum of four (4)) persons) to the Buxton Water Lane hospitality area prior to the start of the London Marathon. The hospitality area will be at The Bridge Lounge Pub located on Tooley Street at the junction of Druid Street, SE1 2TZ.    The Supporting Runner and the four selected hospitality guests will be entitled to one breakfast snack, one hot drink and one soft drink (excluding alcohol) per person, subject to availability.
  18. The Promoter reserves the right to deny access to, or remove, any persons who it deems to be rude or disruptive, or who appear to be under the influence of excess alcohol or any other intoxicating substances.
  19. The cost of any additional refreshments or any additional expenses incurred at The Bridge Lounge Pub will be the responsibility of the supporters.
  20. There is no disabled access to the first floor hospitality space but provision can be made on the ground floor. Please advise the Promoter of any disability requirements by no later than 19.04.2017.
  21. Supporters will be responsible for making their own way to the pub on Marathon day. Public transport is recommended due to significant road closures and parking restrictions.
  22. Additional supporters (over and above the allotted four hospitality guests) may be granted entry to the hospitality area on the day. This will be at the sole discretion of the organiser and available capacity at the venue as outlined in Clause 28.  It is recommended that Runners contact the organisers in advance if they wish to add any additional guests to their supporters group. 
  23. Buxton ‘Memory Lane’ hospitality will include light refreshments on the day from 09:00-13:30, subject to availability.
  24. The winners’ names and county will be available on request by emailing enquiries@waters.nestle.com up to three months after the closing date.
  25. The Promoter’s decisions regarding all promotional matters will be final. In the event of circumstances outside its reasonable control, and only where circumstances make this unavoidable, the Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the promotion or these terms and conditions at any stage but will always endeavour to minimize the effect to participants in order to avoid undue disappointment.
